Candy Pratts Price said in the 2009 documentary The September Issue that, “September is the January of fashion.” And with fashion month in full swing, living by that credo translates into a quick wardrobe refresh. While the era of the It Bag has waned in recent times, there are still key pieces that can elevate any ensemble with a subtle and sophisticated pop.
Enter the Pocket Clutch. First seen on the Victoria Beckham Autumn Winter 2019 runway, the bag takes its cues from 1940s frame styles married with the practicality of a coin purse. The modern interpretation pays homage to vintage-inspired design with a streamlined finish. Available in four festive colours—including an exclusive emerald satin finish already sported by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex—it’s the counterpoint to the tiny top-handle bags and logo’ed totes. Each style will retail for £350.
It’s worth noting that some shades available on the Pocket Clutch have already been called out by Pantone as next year’s most covet-worthy colours. A bold green leather version—sported by VB herself during her last trip to New York—is dubbed Biscay Green a vibrant hue mimicking the Carribean waters, while the sunset coloured pouch VB sported during the same trip is called Saffron. After all, Victoria is known for mixing unusual colours that work perfectly.
