Breaking Down Julianne Hough’s Off-Duty Glow

“I love creating a no makeup, makeup look on women,” explains artist Mira Parmar. “I believe makeup should be like a second skin.” And for client Julianne Hough, Parmar achieved her goal highlighting the dancer’s flawless skin bringing out her radiance. “She’s so beautiful. Without makeup,” says Parmar, adding, “Julianne is all about skin [and] loves a little glow and an emphasis on her blue eyes.” Therefore, over the holidays, Parmar set out to let Hough’s skin breathe for any festivities with a subtle, yet impactful glow.

“My beauty ethos is all about skin being skin,” says Parmar. “Enhancing natural beauty and creating a beautiful glow on skin.” With that mindset, Parmar set out on creating a simple, fresh face so that Hough’s eyes popped. “I wanted to create a day look without being too made up,” said Parmar who used the VB Beauty Lid Lustre—“it’s so silky and applies easily!”—to create a smokiness from the liner.

As for the year ahead, Parmar is focused on cleaning up her kit. “I want to start getting my kit clean in terms of cruelty free products [and] make more effort on my own skin skincare wise,” said Parmar. And is there anything she’s hoping to try on Hough for 2020? “A beautiful, bold red lip with a clean, glossy eye with lashes of mascara!”

Below, Parmar shares how to recreate Hough’s off-duty glow:

Prep skin with Bioderma and IT Cosmetics

Then use Oxygenetix foundation mixed with Vita Liberata Beauty Blur to give a really dewy finish

For the brows I used SoapBrows to set them and Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Palette to fill any sparse areas

I created my to die for glossy cheekbones using a highlighter and Champagne Pop from Becca Cosmetics

I love a sultry, smoky eye so I used the Victoria Beckham Beauty Smoky Eye Brick in Signature for the base before using Delilah Cosmetics gel liner in Ebony. Then I created a smoked out effect using Victoria Beckham Beauty Lid Lustre in Onyx which is an amazing colour and blends and smudges out like a dream

I used Victoria Beckham Beauty Satin Kajal Liner in Black on the bottom lash line and smudged to create the smoky effect. It’s a great, soft Kajal for inside and outside the eyes.

I finished with Nars Climax Mascara and extra lashes added in the corners

Then I made sure her lips were super soft using Lip Prep by Crabtree + Evelyn before using Anastasia Beverly Hills matte lipstick in Soft Touch
